We’ve put together a live, interactive dashboard that lets anyone explore the recent publication record of the Centro de Ecología Integrativa (CEI) at Universidad de Talca, side-by-side with peer academic units including the Center for Bioinformatics, Simulations and Modelling (CBSM) and the university’s seven faculties / institutes.

The data comes from OpenAlex, an open bibliometric database. We pull every journal article from 2020 onwards affiliated with Universidad de Talca, classify each paper by unit (with CEI getting exclusive ownership of any paper that lists a CEI author), and enrich every paper with its journal’s 2-year mean citedness — OpenAlex’s open analog of a Journal Impact Factor.

What you can do in the explorer:

Free-text search across paper titles and journal names
Multi-select unit filtering, year-range slider, minimum citations, minimum journal impact
Four charts that re-render live as you filter — annual publications, citation impact (h-index / mean / total / count), journal-impact comparison across units, and top journals per unit
A sortable, paginated paper table with direct DOI links

A note on “Impact Factor”: the journal-impact comparison uses OpenAlex’s openly published 2-year mean citedness per source. That’s a close conceptual analog to Clarivate’s JCR Impact Factor, but it is not the same metric — JCR IF is paywalled and licensed. We’re using the open one so anyone can reproduce the numbers.

The underlying notebook that generates the data is open source at github.com/ecastron/cei_biblio — clone it, run it, and you’ll get your own copy of the same JSON the dashboard reads.
